Children's Chicken
|
Children are generally taught to cook by doing simple chores such as
peeling the carrots or washing the lettuce. The glamour of these jobs
wanes quickly and it is a good idea for parents and grandparents to be
on the lookout for recipes that children can easily do so they can get
the thrill of cooking the main course. Children's Chicken is an easy
dish that will earn extravagant praise even if cooked by adults.
1 chicken, cut up, washed, and dried with paper towels
1/2 cup good quality mustard such as Grey Poupon
4 tablespoons dry white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc
1 clove garlic
salt and pepper
pinch of thyme
pinch of freshly ground cinnamon
bread crumbs, made from good quality bread such as sour dough
butter
paprika
|
Put garlic through a press into a dish.
Add the mustard and white wine,
thyme and cinnamon and freshly ground black pepper.
Stir, let sit a few
minutes.
Brush each piece of chicken with the mustard mixture.
Roll in
bread crumbs.
Spray a baking dish with
non fat cooking spray.
Lay out chicken in the pan.
Sprinkle with paprika
and dot with butter.
Place in the oven at 350 degrees for two hours.
The children (or child if that is what you have on hand,) can also peel a
potato or two and tuck them into the chicken pan quartered for the last
hour.
