Terroir and Crinella Wines
Our natural wines are winning awards!
Our Winemaker, Rod
Berglund takes great pride in crafting wines
that genuinely reflect the character of the terroir. His wines represent their unique growing regions and reflect
the particular characteristics of the soil, weather conditions and
varietals.
There are two diverse methods used to make wine. One is terroir-driven, or
'natural'; the other is style-driven resulting in a 'riper' product.
Natural wines, like Crinella, are created
by allowing the wine to develop with limited intervention, the
ultimate result being a true reflection of the terroir. Style-driven wines
are often less distinct from one vintage to the next. The vintners also
often utilize technology and other intervening methods to develop a
product by design to meet a specfic style expectation.
At Crinella, we know our customers appreciate the individuality of our
natural, hand-crafted wines,
created by Rod to represent each of our vineyards.
Our award winning Sauvignon Blanc has become a favorite of many as
our vineyard matures and developes outstanding characteristics.

2007 started dramatically for Crinella. We
were awarded a Gold
Medal for our 2005 Glissando in the
Grand Harvest Awards
Competition.
We're especially proud to receive this award. This competition is the only
wine-judging event in North America that is based on terroir. The judging
categories are based on regional conditions (viticultural region), so the
wines are compared to wines of similar origin.
We've also just received another Silver Medal for our 2005 Sauvignon
Blanc
in the 2007 National Women's Wine Competition.
