Rod Berglund,
Winemaker
A winemaker since 1979, Rod Berglund was a founding partner and the first winemaker for a
groundbreaking winery called La Crema Vinera, which later became La Crema. Berglund began working at Joseph Swan Vineyards in 1987. Son-in-law of the late Joseph
Swan, today, Berglund is the president and winemaker for his family's winery. One of the Pinot Noir visionaries of the Russian River Valley and a devoted advocate of the region, Berglund
was elected to the Russian River Valley Winegrowers' first board of directors and served as its second president.
In addition to his passion for wines of the Russian River Valley, Berglund is a European wine enthusiast.
He has traveled extensively in France, studying the winegrowing traditions there, particularly in Burgundy. "At least once a year, I go to Burgundy and stay with friends.
Indirectly this experience influences my winemaking," he says. "Going there reminds me of why I got into this business. The French commitment and passion is all about the
land. They are true to their traditions, themselves and what they do. That's why I'm so excited to be a part of the Crinella team. Ramona and Frank share that commitment to
tradition and passion for wines that are true to the land."
